Never been to a B&B? Here are five great ways to be sure to impress your Valentine with the perfect romantic getaway.

Berry Manor Inn
1)    Consult the Best of BedandBreakfast.com Awards for Best Romantic Inns
Each year BedandBreakfast.com names the most romantic inn or B&B.  The awards are based upon reviews posted by guests, so you can be sure that the romance is true blue or perhaps we should say hot pink! Take a look through the Best of BedandBreakfast.com awards through the years and you’re sure to find a contender that’s in a destination you’d love to visit.
2)    Take advantage of romance packages
It’s fair to say that just about 99 percent of inns and B&Bs offer romance packages. Leave the romantic suggestions to the innkeepers who’ve packaged everything from poetry to chocolates, dinner or possibly a bucket of beer for the guy who fears B&Bs. Not only will the package make it easy to insure that romance is in the air, but you’ll pay once for the package including lodging, breakfast and extras, and not have to pull the wallet out again.
3)    Go for the Jacuzzi and fireplace rooms
Nearly 50-percent of inns and B&Bs offer rooms with jetted tubs and more than 60-percent have rooms with fireplaces according to the 2011 Industry Study of Innkeeping Operations & Finance by the Professional Association of Innkeepers International.  Nothing beats the relaxation of a deep whirlpool followed by falling asleep to the flickering of a fireplace.  These are universal romance makers, and worth the splurge for an intimate getaway.
4)    Add the flowers and chocolates
Let’s face it. Valentine’s Day is all about flowers and chocolates.  The way to her heart is through flowers. The way to his heart is through his stomach so whatever the favorite candy or flower, have it there for your Valentine. Your innkeeper is happy to help you order and insure these treats are in the room.
5)     Work with the innkeeper to surprise your Valentine with everything including the ring
Don’t be afraid to involve your innkeeper in planting romantic goodies in the room or on her finger.  Innkeepers love to be in on the secret, so be sure to ask if there’s a special CD or book of poetry you want for the room or better yet, help with the proposal.  Innkeepers have been known to plant the ring in a special chocolate dessert or write “Will you marry me?” in the sand or snow outside the window.  For those not quite sure what to do to add romance, ask the innkeeper. Innkeepers are experts on how to find romance at their B&Bs, and they’ll have plenty of suggestions on how to impress him or her on your next romantic getaway.
These suggestions are brought to you by the Better Way To Stay, a campaign to help travelers experience today’s inns and B&Bs. For more information, visit www.BetterwaytoStay.com.
