Summer in the City - Coney Island, New York
Labor Day weekend marks the end of summer for America. How time flies when you are having fun! It feels like just yesterday when I was at Coney Island kicking off the summer on Memorial day. A 50 minute subway trip to the end of the line in Brooklyn deposits you on one of the most famous boardwalks of them all. This 2010 Memorial Day weekend the weather enticed thousands of colorful sunbathers from their small NYC apartments to the beach; you can hardly find a free space to place your towel!
Dawn had not yet gotten underway when I walked into the dirt lot of the bus station in Arba Minch, Ethiopia. I was tired, and I was entering "the ring" when I'd rather be readjusting my pillow. But I had only a month in which to see this country, Africa's second most populous, and so I needed to catch the first minibus to Konso.
