College offers many brilliant opportunities. One of the most advantageous is the possibility to study abroad. Traveling and learning about new ways of life is exciting and has that special appeal to young people. Let’s be honest, that is why studying abroad is so popular among student in the first place – not because that university overseas offers unique curriculum or unrivaled library resources.
Last night, we had the great fortune to head to Detroit to see a movie premiere of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Of course, we cosplayed some of our favorite characters: Newt, Tina, and Credence.
This past weekend was the long-awaited annual Grand Rapids Comic Con. Held at Devos Place, a soaring, light-filled conference center, there was plenty of room to wander...and ask people for photos!

While exploring Roman archeological sites in Europe and the Middle East, I learned about geothermal energy. Centuries ago, the Romans saw the value of this natural resource and used it for their benefit. For example, the Roman Baths, about an hour and a half train ride from London, were constructed in the 1st century C.E to utilize the thermal water with a temperature of 46 degrees Celsius or 115 degrees Fahrenheit.
The dreaded commute can be bad enough with ever-increasing traffic, but as we creep closer to winter, there’s also a lot to consider in regards to your personal safety over the colder period. According to a study developed by automotive company Ford, the average EU commute is 37.5 minutes per day, whereas the average commute in the UK is 54 minutes.
The many ways that volunteering abroad can be harmful are being exposed in the media with increasing frequency.
